Will the real Self please stand up?

Posted on Jun 6th, 2007 by Boulder Integral : Gaia Child Boulder Integral
Dear Friends,

On June 3rd at Integral Spiritual Sunday Jeff Salzman led an amazing session about Living Your Larger/Higher Self.
The Higher Selves are standing
The morning began with the usual 9am meditation.  It is truly wonderful to see the many of you that are now joining us on a regular basis.  Jeff also included some guidance on a great integral practice of taking perspectives- 1-2-3 of Spirit (Spirit in first, second and third person).

Mary Hostetter started the 10am session with some great rounds of singing. Thanks Mary, we enjoyed it!

During the main at 10am, Jeff gave a beautiful talk and teaching on
encountering our Larger, Higher Self. There was some gorgeous music, meditation, poetry,  conversation and a wonderful exercise in which attendants had to stand behind the chair as his/her Higher Self and introduce and speak about the small self with the others in the group.  Here are some pictures.
Jeff Salzman

For many, it was, indeed, a powerful experience. The group also got to ask questions from the Higher Self about the small self - a delicious practice to continue in being able to step back from identifying with the ego and stepping into witnessing from the unconditioned, empty/full, all-pervading Higher Self,  the
dimension of yourself that is wiser, more powerful and more loving.  It's always "there" as potential, holding the promise of your next stage of growth.  Sometimes it shines through as  bursts  of spontaneous clarity.  We also feel it as the call of God, Dharma and/or spiritual practice.  Sometimes we fear it, and project it as a golden shadow on to others.

Thank you, Jeff for the incredible generosity and wisdom that you continue to bring to BCIL.

Integral Alchemy: Turning Fear Into Gold

Posted on Jun 10th, 2007 by Boulder Integral : Gaia Explorer Boulder Integral
Today, 6/10, at Integral Spiritual Sunday, we looked at the  ways to work with our own suffering, and the suffering of others, from at an integral level of consciousness, using Ken Wilber's AQAL teachings.
Ross Hostetter leads the meditation

At integral consciousness, we are able to see our suffering as contractions of emotions, thoughts and energies.  It is this very process of seeing and feeling our contraction -- instead of being and holding them -- that sets off a wondrous (if sometimes hair-raising) cascade of release.

Today's session, with a lot of small group work that included conversation but also a lot of silence, was  facilitated by Jeff SalzmanRoss Hostetter led the meditation and Daune Greene led the group in a great movement exercise to some exotic drum-playing.  Thank you, Jeff, Ross and Daune! And thanks also, to all who came to BCIL today.

Please email info@b-cil.org if you have any questions.

Peace and Love

Rollie Stanich presents the Great Confluence

Hello Friends,

Last Sunday, June 17th, many of us from BCIL went to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Denver where Rollie Stanich presented on the many possibilities that are there, in our time, for a profound meeting of the great religious traditions with the currents of modern, postmodern and integral thought, if we are open to it, and can listen for it amidst the din.

Rollie's teaching was titled, "The Great Confluence," which we explored as having considerable implications for the way we dialogue and the way we practice, for our realization and our service in the world.
Thank you, Rollie, for such a wonderful afternoon session that included meditation, music, altar offerings (most of them to Dads, since it was Father's Day) and, Q&A. And thank you also to all of you who came to this event.  We much appreciate your presence. See pictures here.

This event was co-sponsored by the
Buddhist/Christian Interfaith Community of Denver, founded by Rev. Dr. Toni L. Cook, Pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Denver.  We take this opportunity to thank Rev. Dr. Toni for giving us this opportunity to visit her church and get to know some of the great work done by her and her community.
